Fluor, Technip and SK E&C Win FEED Contract for Petrochemical Project in Ohio
Fluor will provide front-end engineering and design for PTT Global Chemical Public Company’s proposed petrochemical complex in Belmont County, Ohio. The Houston-based engineering company was awarded the contract with team members Technip and SK E&C.
While Fluor did not disclose the value of the contract, Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich last week said the Thai petrochemical and refining company PTTGC intended to invest US$100 million for the FEED work. In addition to the Fluor consortium, PTTGC also signed a FEED contract with Bechtel, according to a report from Oil & Gas Journal.
The project includes an ethane cracker and derivatives units by leveraging the availability of feedstock from gas from the Utica and Marcellus shale formations in the region, Fluor said in a statement.
“Working closely with PTTGC on the front-end activities, we will identify the most capital-efficient integrated solutions to support the project’s advancement,” said Jim Brittain, president of Fluor’s Energy & Chemicals Americas business line.
Front-end activities are expected to be completed in 2016. PTTGC will make a final investment decision in 2016 or 2017. If it proceeds with construction, the Ohio complex will take around four years to build.
